Submitting an application

What should you take into account when submitting a residents’ initiative and what do we want to know? Read on to find all the information you need about the application procedure.

First of all: in principle, Fonds 1818 only communicates in Dutch. We very much prefer applications to be made in Dutch and would advise you to find a Dutch-speaker to help with your application. If you’re having problems, please get in touch via info@fonds1818.nl and we’ll look for a solution together.

Four application rounds per year

We consider applications for residents’ initiatives four times per year, namely on:

  • 1 February
  • 1 May
  • 1 August
  • 1 November

Make sure that your plan reaches us before the next closing date. You can only submit applications using the digital application form for residents’ initiatives (aanvraagformulier voor bewonersinitiatieven, in Dutch). We will let you know whether Fonds 1818 has approved funding within two weeks of the closing date.

Make sure that you submit your application for funding before the closing date, and that the project is not due to start any earlier than two weeks after this date.

We process funding applications from organisations all year round.

Maximum donation

Applications for a donation for a residents’ initiative must include the amount you are requesting. This may not exceed €1.500. The maximum amount for street and neighbourhood parties is €300.

The total budget allocated per round is €50.000.

Who is the applicant?

An application for a residents’ initiative must always be made by three people: a main applicant and two co-applicants. All three applicants must be at least 16 years old, not related to each other and their work for the project must be voluntary. The initiators may not live at the same address, but must all live in the street or neighbourhood where the project is planned. We need the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all three applicants, and we also need the e-mail address of the main applicant so that Fonds 1818 can contact them.

What should the plan show?

Use the digital application form for residents’ initiatives (aanvraagformulier voor bewonersinitiatieven, in Dutch) to give a brief description of the project in a maximum of 250 words. Explain what you hope to achieve, who the initiative is aimed at, who will be helping and whether you are working alongside an organisation. Please be as explicit as possible. We also need a summary of your expected income and expenditure. Finally, state the amount you need from Fonds 1818 to implement your project.

Approved or rejected?

If Fonds 1818 approves your application, you will be sent an e-mail with a contract and a project number. We will ask the main applicant for a copy of their ID and a bank account number so that we can transfer the donation. We will only use these details for the administration of the project.

Fonds 1818 logo

We’d be grateful if you would show the Fonds 1818 logo on your website or other promotional material. You can download the logo in various formats.

On completion

Once the project has finished, you’ll need to send us proof in the form of a short report and a summary of your income and expenditure. Use the accountability form (Verantwoordingsformulier), which you can send by e-mail to aanvraag@fonds1818.nl. Please state the project number and project name and send a photo if you have one.
